We built this mountain chalet for our family in 2008 as a weekend and holiday retreat from our daily life in Denver. It is a getaway with all the comforts of home. We love to ski, cook, hike, entertain, relax and connect with each other. Our home allows all of that and more. Located just about 2 hours from Denver at the western entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park, the area is known for its wildlife with herds of elk & moose wandering about all summer. It is only a mile from the town of Grand Lake (established in 1881) and you enter the neighborhood from just within Rocky Mountain National Park boundaries. Our home features 3 levels - the first level has a garage, 2 bedrooms (1 double & 2 twins), full bathroom, laundry facilities and utilities. The main floor has a fully equipped kitchen, a table that seats 8, and 2 bar stools at the counter. The open living room has 1 couch, 2 chairs, tv, and a small wood-burning stove to warm you on the cooler mornings or at night as gaze up at the stars through the large front windows. There's also gas and electric heat and a laundry room. The main floor has 2 bedrooms with queen-sized beds and tvs and 2 full baths (one with a bathtub). The upstairs loft has a futon and rocking chair with a door separating it from the bedroom. The upstairs bedroom has 2 queen beds, 2 twins, TV and DVD player. Our property is very safe and family-friendly, all railings are to code, it has many games for all ages, 2 adult bikes, helmets, pack n play, toddler bed rails, high chair, booster seat, safety gates and a safe yard for kids to play. There is plenty of parking in the driveway and room for a trailer (no parking is allowed on the road). The quaint town of Grand Lake has something for everyone with over 60 shops, restaurants, and galleries along with many festivals and firework shows. In the summer, you can enjoy the beach, swimming, rent a paddleboard, paddleboat, kayak or pontoon boat or fishing on one of the beautiful lakes, Grand Lake, Shadow Lake, or Lake Granby. You can take in a show at the renowned Rocky Mountain Repertory Theater. The entrance to Rocky Mtn Nat'l Park and the Kawuneeche Visitor Center is only 2 miles from our cabin where you can enjoy the amazing Trail Ridge Road drive that has breathtaking views from over 12,000 feet or one of the many hiking or biking trails and wildlife sightings the park has to offer. Columbine Lake has the Grand Lake Golf Course, Nordic Ski Center and Sledding Hill, Sly Fox Restaurant, and hiking trails. In the winter Grand Lake the "Snowmobiling Capital of Colorado". It transforms into a winter wonderland with miles and miles of trials. You can snowmobile from our cabin to over 100 miles of groomed trails or to town to one of the many restaurants for dinner. Cross country ski, snowshoe, or take the kiddos sledding at the GL Nordic Center only 1 mile from the cabin (rental equipment available). Afterward, enjoy sipping on hot chocolate, hot toddies, or soup at the clubhouse. Icefish on one of the 3 surrounding lakes, Grand, Shadow, and Granby. Let’s start by talking about how we are making our cabin safe for your stay in the beautiful Rocky Mountains. First, we are building in a day between reservations. Once a guest leaves, the cabin will be cleaned and no one will enter it for an entire day. You would then arrive the following day by 4:00. Next, our cleaning person is both cleaning and disinfecting the cabin. We are hoping to have hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes available but, right now, that is pretty hard to do. Okay, with that said, if you arrange a stay and then become sick with the virus, we will give you a full refund no matter how close you are to your scheduled stay. Now, for the fun stuff…… This comfortable, historic cabin on Columbine Lake is located approximately two and a half hours from Denver. Columbine Lake is a natural glacial lake between the town of Grand Lake and the west entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP). The cabin was originally constructed as a fishing cabin in the late 1800’s and expanded to create a two bedroom, one bath getaway. It features an original stone fireplace in the living room and a master bedroom of chinked log construction. The cabin sleeps four comfortably with room for six using a pullout couch. Bedrooms are located at opposite ends of the cabin allowing for privacy. One bedroom has a queen bed while the other has a full-sized bed. The pullout couch has a queen size Memory foam mattress that is reputed to be quite comfortable - no bar in your back at all. The remodeled bathroom is clean and comfortable and has a shower. The updated, fully stocked kitchen provides seating for four-six people. Internet access and Apple TV are available and allow you to stay in touch with family and friends and watch a variety of shows and movies. The cabin is small (700 sq. ft.) but is laid out well and allows for privacy as well as group gatherings. A note: Doorways between the middle rooms have a low clearance. Tall people have to remember to duck to avoid a smack on the head. People under 5' 10" or so? Clear sailing! Fisherman's Retreat is located across the road from Columbine Lake with a view to the lake and a one-mile road around the lake for the walkers in your group. Guests are not allowed to use the lake for boating or fishing but it is certainly available for your enjoyment at the beach areas and for a nice 1.1 mile circular walk. Boats can be rented in Grand Lake and the surrounding area and fishing lakes and streams abound. In addition to the proximity to RMNP, National Forest land surrounds the area and Grand Lake, Lake Granby and Shadow Mountain Reservoir provide a unique outdoor playground. We are located about 40 minutes from Winter Park Ski Area, 15 minutes from Granby and Granby Ranch skiing and golf. There is a Nordic Center/Sledding Area/Golf Course just south of Columbine Lake as well as cross-country skiing about 25 minutes away at YMCA of the Rockies. Of course, there is plenty of hiking, skiing and snowshoeing in Rocky Mountain National Park and the surrounding US Forest Service land. Moose, fox, deer, otter, and elk are seen on the property or close by. The bird population is diverse and, in summer, ospreys fly over the lake almost daily. Shopping, restaurants, and community events in Grand Lake and nearby towns enrich the wilderness experience to create a vacation perfect for people of all ages. Various community events round out the calendar. This beautiful, peaceful part of Colorado is a place that you will think back on throughout the year.

We welcome you to our mountain house! Our extended family has had wonderful times here and we hope yours will, too. We are proud of the condition of our home and hope you will enjoy the moose theme. In fact we have seen real moose on more than half of our visits! It's the perfect place to enjoy nature without roughing it. Moose Hus is fully furnished so you'll feel right at home. The large living room and dining area with cast-iron gas stove and cathedral ceiling is the place where everyone gathers for TV (streaming only-no cable), DVD, games, and conversation. The modern kitchen (renovated in 2019) is conveniently nearby. In winter, enjoy snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, skating, and sledding. In summer, participate in hiking, boating, fishing, horseback riding, golfing and picnicking. You might even find it interesting to walk through the historic Grand Lake cemetery. Please note that on October 21, 2020, the East Troublesome Fire raged through our area. While our house escaped with minor damage, and our view is completely unchanged, there were houses destroyed in our neighborhood. January 2021 - Eagles Landing Lodge is currently being rented on a long-term basis. Due to the East Troublesome Fire that affected Grand County in October of 2020, many full-time residents lost their homes, and specifically in the small community of Grand Lake. We offered our rental home to a family who lost their home, and while we know that this will affect our returning guests or those seeking to rent, we believe that it is important to support our mountain community so that they may resume and rebuild their lives. We hope that you many come back to view Eagles Landing Lodge and consider it for your future travel plans sometime in 2022. The dining room seats 8, with four additional stools at the kitchen island. Cook and dine alfresco during the warmer summer months with a gas grill and outdoor seating for 12 with incredible views. Guests will also have use of the fire pit to take in the night sky during summer months and if no burn-bans are in effect. The lodge is equipped with 3 smart TVs and WiFi so that you can stream video from Netflix, Prime Video, Hulu, or any other of your subscription services. You will be surrounded by wildlife such as Moose, Elk, Deer, and more. Hike directly into RMNPs Kawuneeche Valley visitor center! You will find our home is well equipped with all the modern amenities you would expect like Smart TVs, and WIFI. You will find three private bedrooms, as well as, a finished basement that sleeps four adults and has its own private entrance. Our home can sleep 12 comfortable. We also have a play pen and high chair for the little ones. All new linens, towels in home. The home can easily be split into two private sections, so if your traveling with friends or family you can still get alone time with a third private entrance to the finished basement area, and door that can lock off the rest of the home. The kitchen has everything you would need to cook a great meal. A large deck outback with BBQ Grill, and dinning area is surrounded by Log Pole Pine trees. This newly renovated cabin features wood burning stove, granite countertops in the fully equipped kitchen, travertine tile in the bathroom, and a flat screen TV with Blu-ray player. Queen size bed and full size bed in upstairs bedrooms. Fold out queen size couch in living room on first floor. The cabin is kid-friendly: a new Pack N Play and high chair are available for use. Our location backs up to Grand Lake golf course and Nordic center, allowing for lots of privacy and an abundance of wildlife to come near the cabin including Moose, Deer, Fox, and Elk. We are located on a quiet street with neighbors on one side only. Rocky Mountain National Park and the Village of Grand Lake are just a couple minutes drive. The interior of the cabin offers an open floor plan with vaulted ceilings in the great room. Our log cabin has a great private location nestled in an aspen grove just minutes from Grand Lake. We are just steps away from Columbine Lake, a private 45 acre natural lake just outside Rocky Mountain National Park. This is the perfect getaway for a family vacation, romantic getaway, or reunion with friends. Our location backs up to private wooded land, allowing for lots of privacy and an abundance of wildlife to come near the cabin including Moose, Deer, Fox, and Elk. We are located on a dead end street with neighbors on one side only. Rocky Mountain National Park is 1 mile away and the Village of Grand Lake is just a couple minutes drive. The interior of the cabin offers an open floor plan with vaulted ceilings in the great room. Natural log beams support the loft upstairs and a log railing follows the stairs up and across the loft, giving it that rustic touch. On the main floor is the 2nd bedroom with queen bed, full bath with shower and laundry, fully stocked kitchen, dining area, great room, and a bar area. Upstairs you will find a full bath with shower / tub, large master bedroom with a king sized log bed and twin bunk beds, and the loft with a trundle bed that serves as the third bedroom. The loft offers privacy from the rest of the cabin and opens up to the balcony outside. In the evening, have a fire in the fire pit outside and gaze at the stars up above. Rustic log benches surround the fire pit along with adirondack chairs. Please note, firewood may not be available at the cabin and can be purchased in town. If you are planning to bring your dog, well behaved pets will be considered and a pet fee would be applied to your reservation if approved. Grand Lake is a year round destination. During the summer you can enjoy boating on the 3 lakes (Grand Lake, Shadow Mountain Lake, and Lake Granby), hiking, mountain biking, ATVs, 4th of July fireworks, and the list goes on. During the winter months this area is the snowmobiling capital of Colorado with over 100 miles of groomed trails. Skiing choices are plentiful between Ski Granby Ranch nearby, Winter Park and the legendary champagne powder of Steamboat Springs. Perhaps the greatest year round draw of the area is Rocky Mountain National Park with it amazing scenery and abundance of wildlife.
